Whilst I am aware that a daft F1 calendar came out yesterday, far more important calendar news occurred when the dates for the 2013/14 BRCA 12th nationals were announced! In a spooky co-incidence they too have a date to be confirmed – (alright F1 has 4, but that’s just showing off!)

The BRCA 12th nationals is the longest established and by far the most popular 12th series in the world, and has been massively bolstered by the inclusion of the new GT12 class over the past 2 years, so much so that many events were oversubscribed last season – So get your entries in early – I have!!

Highlight of the calendar must be Round 5 which will take place in my new home town of Milton Keynes in the Middleton Shopping centre (right in front of John Lewis’!) and will not only be a fantastic race meeting but a celebration of our sport and a chance to bring RC to the public!

The BRCA are pleased to announce details of their 2013/14 national series for 1/12th scale electric cars. This season’s championship will return to several familiar venues, many of which have hosted rounds of this championship for many years. We’ll also be returning to a couple of tracks that have been off the calendar for a while.

Most of the events are located in the Midlands, which we hope will encourage higher entries and reduced travel costs for competitors.

Calendar of Events Oct 19th/20th Teesside

Nov 16th/17th TBC

Dec 7th/8th Tamworth

Jan 18th/19th Crewe

Feb 15th/16th Milton Keynes

Mar 15th/16th Chesterfield

The championship will kick off at Teesside in October at their newly constructed permanent indoor venue. The new track is larger, flatter and has better facilities than the old one raced on previously.

The venue for round 2 is still to be decided as some complications with venue availability have delayed the confirmation process. Check the BRCA website and other RC news outlets regularly in the coming days for updates.

Tamworth will host round 3, occupying their usual December slot. Known for their highly technical track layouts and also the superb catering provided, this has become a favourite event for many drivers.

In the new year the series returns to Crewe, another popular club for 1/12th scale club racers and the scene of many hard fought national victories over the years.

The penultimate round will be held in Milton Keynes and brings a new aspect to the championship; racing in front of the general public. The MK event will be held at the Centre:MK, one of the UK’s largest shopping and retail outlet centres. The feel of this event will be similar to that experienced by drivers who have participated in the BRCA’s Autosport demonstrations for the last couple of years. A smooth and well run operation is to be expected and there will be race commentary and chances for the public to have a go at driving an RC car too. Definitely a must-do event of this season’s calendar.

Finally, Chesterfield return to their usual slot on the calendar for the season finale. Widely dubbed as ‘The Home of 1/12 Scale in the UK’, a well-attended event on a great track is a near certainty and will see the championship draw to an exciting close in March.

Classes As usual a range of classes will be offered which we hope will suit most abilities, budgets and experience levels. What’s more, each day of a national weekend counts as a separate event so drivers can chose to race on only one of the two days if they wish.
